 The Croatian Sea is not only an attractive nautical destination, but it also draws many lovers of the underwater world.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications has proclaimed new Regulation on Diving. This Regulation will govern the conditions for diving for recreation and sport in the internal and territorial waters of the Republic of Croatia. Croatian citizens well as foreign nationals may perform diving activities only if they hold a valid divers card.
To dive with diving center you only need card from Croatian Diving Federation and your divers card from CMAS, PADI, SSI, NAUI, IANTD....

BISAC - The British Sub - Aqua Club
CMAS - World Underwater Federation (Confederation Mondiale des Activites Subaquatiques)
IANTD - International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers
NAUI - National Association of Underwater Instructors
PADI - Professional Association of Diving Instructors
SSI - Scuba School International
Temporary diving qualifications are not valid.
Croatian, as well as the foreign citizens may perform diving activities on there own only if they have a valid divers card from Croatian Diving Federation and a Ministry card from Harbor master.
Divers card will be issued by the Croatian Diving Federation and it will be valid for a year following the issue date (all diving ceters can isue it). Divers card will be issued only to persons with adequate qualifications. A fee for the issue of a divers card in the Republic of Croatia will amount to 100 Kuna
The area, at which diving is performed, must be visibly marked, an orange or red buoy or a diving flag. The maximum approved depth for diving for sport and recreation is 40 meters.
For these areas you need special authorisation, the national park Kornati and the islands Mljet, Vis, Bisevo, Svetac, Brisnik, Susac, Kopiste, Lastovo, Donji Skoji, Vrhovnjaci and Palagruza. The use of photograph - or video cameras are allowed under water , except at archaeological places. For this authorisation must be asked at the ministry of culture.
To dive has been permitted at the most places, but there are also areas where an explicit prohibition applies, such as natuur reserve and military areas. Areas where diving is forbidden are the nature parks Krk and Brijuni, the nature reserve in the Bay of Ston and Lemski-seaarm, Telascica park, ports, areas with busy ship traffic and all areas within a range of 100 meters around military ships and installations.
